What Bloom Does

Bloom is a paycheck survival engine that helps you determine if you will run out of money before your next paycheck. We analyze your balance, bills, paycheck schedule, and estimated spending to calculate your financial risk.

Data We Collect

• Account information: name, email address, hashed password (we never store plain-text passwords)
• Financial data you enter: current balance, paycheck amount and date, bill names and amounts, estimated spending
• Bank data via Plaid: if you connect your bank accounts, we access account balances only through Plaid. We do not access transactions, account numbers, or routing numbers.

How We Use Your Data

Your financial data is used solely to calculate your risk projection and provide recommendations. We do not sell, share, or use your data for advertising purposes.

Plaid Integration

Bloom uses Plaid to securely connect to your bank accounts. Plaid provides read-only access to your account balances. We store the connection credentials securely but never store your bank login credentials. For more information, see Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secure, encrypted database hosted on cloud infrastructure. All monetary values are stored as integers (cents) to prevent precision errors. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt with a cost factor of 12.

Your Rights

• Access: you can view all your data through the app at any time
• Edit: you can update your financial information at any time
• Delete: you can request account deletion, which permanently removes all your data including financial profiles, bills, and bank connections
• Disconnect: you can disconnect bank accounts at any time
